This film is about acceptance. It's about learning to accept your family for who and what they are. Even though they may not be the family you wanted or expected you still have to love them because they're all you'll ever have. It's realizing that there is no such thing as the "perfect family" and loving yours for everything they are, instead of focusing on everything they aren't. It's also about personal acceptance and coming to terms with your own flaws. All the characters except Olive and the grandpa, struggle with self acceptance and personal failures. They take their frustrations out on each other. Then in the end they all realize that it's o.k. to not be perfect because as long as you have people who love and accept you, you can be happy.
